In-The-Bowery's to Host Good Friday Blues Service This Month


Staying true to its long history and commitment to justice and mercy through worship and the arts, poetry, dance, and historic preservation, St. Mark's Church In-The-Bowery, the Rev Anne Marie Witchger, Priest in Charge will host its annual Good Friday Blues on Friday, March 29th noon to 3:00 p.m.

Aviva Players to Open Season with 'Songs, Piano Rags & Chamber Music by Women Composers', 10/16


The Aviva Players will begin its 40th season on October 16 with 'Songs, Piano Rags & Chamber Music by Women Composers, including the Piano Trio by Fanny Mendelssohn,' the first installment of a three-part concert series at Opera America, 330 Seventh Ave.  The concert will include piano rags by May Frances Aufderheide, Irene Giblin and Adeline Shepard; songs by Mira J. Spektor, and 'Vocal Duets' and 'The Piano Trio' by Fanny Mendelssohn.  The evening is presented in conjunction with Downtown Music Productions.

Neuroscientist and Composer Dave Soldier Releases Two Collections via Mulatta Records


These companion releases of Soldier's solo piano (In Black & White) and quartet music (In Four Color) dissect and explore the two classic forms of the classical tradition. Together they encompass five hours of compositions spanning thirty years.
