What did our critic think of DESCRIBE THE NIGHT at Ensemble?
Ensemble Theatre's 'Playwrights' was established in the early 1990's by Don Bianchi, one of the founders of Dobama, and Park Goist, a professor of American Studies at Case Western Reserve. It was started with the hope of creating an opportunity for local playwrights to have their works staged.
'If you hear a song in blue
Like a flower crying for the dew
That was my heart serenading you
My prelude to a kiss'

Clyde Simon, the Artistic Director of convergence-continuum, never steers clear of in-your-face, lurid language-laced scripts. He has used this formula to consistently fill his theatre with cult patrons who are drawn to Simon's tastes. SELF DEFENSE OR DEATH OF SOME SALESMEN is a typical con-con offering.
convergence-continuum continues its 2013 Season, Ruled by Passion, with a cutting-edge drama: the Ohio premiere of Self Defense, or death of some salesmen by Carson Kreitzer. (Ms. Kreitzer is also the author of Freakshow, which received an award-winning convergence-continuum production in 2008.) Check out a first look at Self Defense below!

Dedicated to the memory of Christopher, Lucia, and Licia Colombi, all of whom were integral parts of the Cleveland theatre community, the festival gives local playwrights an opportunity to stage their works for a Cleveland audience.
