CORTLAND REPERTORY THEATRE ANNOUNCES
AUDITIONS FOR 41st SUMMER SEASON
Cortland Repertory Theatre will hold local auditions by appointment for its upcoming 41st annual summer season in 2012. Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 31 from 10:00 - 5:00 at Homer High School, 80 South West Street (Route 281), Exit 12 off Route 81 in Homer. Productions include:
· “The Ladies Man”: a farce;
· “Grease” a rock and roll 1950’s musical;
· “Cats”, a family-friendly, dance-based musical;
· “The Hollow” an Agatha Christie mystery;
· “The Drawer Boy”, a dramatic comedy;
· “The Mystery of Irma Vep”, a 2-man comedy/farce.
All roles open. Seeking adults (college age and above). Paid performing internships are available for college students who sing and dance.
If cast, adult actors must also be available for daytime rehearsals. Season runs from May 22 - Sept 8.
Also, children ages 8 – 12 who sing and dance well are invited to audition for possible small roles in “Cats”. Children need only prepare a brief song; no monologues necessary, and should be prepared to learn a dance combination. Note that rehearsals for “Cats” will be held from June 19 – July 11; performances will run July 11 - 28, with matinee performances on July 13, 15, 18, 22, and 25. Children must be available for daytime and possibly evening rehearsals, and for all performances.
· Seeking non-union actors only.
· Please bring a current photo and theatrical resume.
· Prepare one 1 - 2 minute monologue to be considered for the plays. British accent required for “The Hollow” and “The Mystery of Irma Vep”.
· Prepare 16 measures of an uptempo and/or ballad to be considered for the musicals. Be prepared to sing more, if asked.
· Bring your own sheet music. Pianist will be provided.
· Auditionees may be asked to read from provided scripts, and may be asked to learn a short dance/movement routine.
