THE SCARLET LETTER - Oyster Mill Playhouse

Oyster Mill Playhouse announces auditions for The Scarlet Letter

Oyster Mill Playhouse in Camp Hill will hold auditions for The Scarlet Letter, a drama by
Phyllis Nagy and adapted from the novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The auditions will take place on
January 6th and 7th at 7 pm. The cast is 7 people, with 3 women and 4 men.
Hawthorne's classic novel comes to the stage with a modern adaptation, as seen through
the eyes of a character from the book. Although set in Puritan times, it deals with decidedly
contemporary issues. Hester Prynne's daughter Pearl is now an adult and retells the story of
her mother's fall from grace in Colonial Boston and its effect on the citizens of the city. This
exceptional reworking of The Scarlet Letter will delight everyone who remembers having to
struggle through the novel in school and will bring a new understanding of Hawthorne' work to the
audience.
