THE OPPORTUNIST - Staged Reading
CASTING OPPORTUNITY – Staged Reading
A staged reading of the FIRST draft of a play by UK Dramatist, Dic Edwards is being scheduled for October 19th on the Basement Arts calendar. The play is:

It is being directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre, Gillian Eaton. She is looking for an actor and an actress, between 20 and 24 years of age.
CHARACTERS:
  • LEE at 20 has done the unthinkable; an ex-marine he has defected to the Soviet Union. He is a restless young man looking for a world that will fit his dream. He wants to be somebody, to make a mark on the world. He rejects American capitalism and idealistically searches for it elsewhere.
  • MARINA was brought up in Minsk, USSR by a violent step-father. When she meets LEE she falls in love with him partly because he is American and a way out of the bleakness of Soviet Russia in the early 1960s. She has been sexually active but pretends to be a virgin.
