Auditions for Two-Person, Musical Piece, The Last Five Years, at the Mendocino Theatre Company

The Mendocino Theatre Company announces auditions for unique two person music-driven show, The Last Five Years. This touching and unusual love story will be directed by accomplished teacher/director, Ann Woodhead.

Auditions will be held May 24th at 3:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 p.m., and May 25th at 7:30 p.m. at Dancing Dog Loft at Eagle’s Hall, located on the corner of Cory and Alder Streets in Fort Bragg. Auditioners will be seen first come-first served; appointments are not applicable. The Last Five Years performs November 5th through December 13th, 2015.

In this creative and unusual musical theatrical piece, we simultaneously follow the romance of two lovers: Jamie, who begins at the beginning of their story, and Cathy who begins at their end. As they make their way through love and loss, the two characters intersect only once: their wedding day in the middle of the play.

Told almost entirely through song, this romantic, unconventional piece features stunningly moving music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. Simultaneously interweaving humor and subtlety, The Last Five Years is sure to be one of the most popular shows of the season.

Participants should prepare both a ballad and an up-tempo or rock style song to be performed at auditions. An accompanist will be available. Both lead roles are open for audition:

Jaime, Male, mid to late 20s

Cathy, Female, mid to late 20s
