THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME - Ogunquit Playhouse

Choral Auditions Scheduled for the Ogunquit Playhouse
Production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Ogunquit Playhouse is holding auditions for individuals to join the choirs that perform with the cast of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, on stage July 13 through August 6, 2016. The chorus performs during the musical numbers set within the Cathedral of Notre Dame to heighten the intensity of the music's orchestral power and choral beauty. Auditions will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2016, from 3 to 7 PM at the Ogunquit Playhouse rehearsal studio (The Colony), 48 Hartwig Lane, Ogunquit, Maine. Appointments must be made in advance by emailing hunchbackchoir@gmail.com. For more information visit
www.ogunquitplayhouse.org/auditions. Please do not call the Ogunquit Playhouse for information.

Participants must be experienced choristers, able to read demanding music very well with knowledge and proper pronunciation of choral Latin. Please prepare a short choral excerpt in your voice part from an oratorio or opera, showing the extremes of your range. Please bring sheet music, as an accompanist will be provided.

Two sets of choirs will be assembled (64 members total), each consisting of 8 sopranos (A3-D6), 8 mezzo-sopranos (F#3-G5), 8 tenors (A2-B4), 4 baris (G#2-A4) and 4 basses (F#2-G4). Each choir will perform 4 shows per week. If your song choice does not include these ranges, you will be vocalized to the extreme ends of the required range. Singers may bring a picture with a resume stapled to the back.

Wendell Scott Purrington is the chorus master for the two 32-piece choruses that accompany the cast in the upcoming production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Mr. Purrington will work directly with Brent-Alan Huffman, the Conductor and Music Director, to instruct the chorus.
