BPA is thrilled to announce auditions for the opening show of our 2017 – 2018 Season, the Seattle-area premiere of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, THE MUSICAL. Auditions will be held at Bainbridge Performing Arts on Saturday, May 13 at 11:00 – 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 16 at 7:15 – 9:30 p.m.
Based on the smash-hit movie, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, THE MUSICALrecounts the heartwarming, uplifting adventure of three friends – Tick, Bernadette, and Adam, a glamorous Sydney-based performing trio, who take their show to the middle of the Australian outback. They hop aboard a battered old bus (nicknamed Priscilla) searching for love and friendship and end up reaching their wildest dreams.
Run dates are October 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 & 29, with a Pay-What-You-Can Preview October 12. Rehearsals are August 12 through October 12 – Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays @ 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. plus Saturdays @ 11:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, THE MUSICAL includes roles for 20-30 actors, singers, dancers, and drag queens, ages 18 and up, plus one 8-11-year-old boy. Those auditioning are requested to prepare a one-two minute monologue and 32 bars of a disco or 80’s pop song that shows range and individual character. An accompanist will be provided but you must bring sheet music – clearly marked and in a three-ring binder. Please – no outside accompanists or acapella singing. BPA’s team of theatre professionals works with volunteer cast members from Bainbridge, Kitsap, Seattle, and beyond to produce professional quality, enthusiastically-supported, and well-attended shows in our 245-seat facility on Bainbridge Island. Bainbridge is a beautiful 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle, and the theater is a short walk from the dock. BPA provides walk-on ferry passes for Seattle cast members for all rehearsals and performances.
