Character Breakdowns--Seeking 3 women and 4 men

Jack: 26, An aspiring artist, preferably African-American. An ex-pat from the midwest who moved to France to be with the man he fell in love with.

François: 30, French. Jack's boyfriend. A history professor. He is also a painter, but only as a hobby. He values privacy and a sense of calm in his relationships, but is willing to loudly fight to protect those values.

Sam: 27, American. Works for the embassy. Another midwesterner who moved to France for love, but also for money. Sam will do anything to prove his worth to Marine.

Marine: 27, French. Sam's fiancée. Works for the mayor of Paris. The daughter of the founders of a fashion magazine, Marine has worked most of her life to be her own person.

Madame Hulot: 60s, French. The landlady. A hold-out of an old generation of Parisians intent on living private, quiet lives.

Sam's Father: 50s, American. Blue collar. A classic midwestern parent with firm ideas of masculinity and gender roles.

Jack's Mom: 50s, young-looking, preferably African-American. She wants nothing more in the world than to protect and help her family, but that often means butting heads with her free-spirited son.

François' Mom: 50s, French.

Synopsis: While awaiting a historic vote on same-sex marriage by the French Senate, Jack and François return home to find that the wall of their apartment has been torn down by their neighbors, Marine and Sam. As Paris floods with riots outside, the only option for the two couples is to spend the day together inside. Paris at Dawn is the story of their journey to coexistence, love, and acceptance of each other and themselves.
