NTC Summer Series bare & Neighborhood 3 - Newnan Theatre Company
Newnan Theatre Company will hold auditions for their 5th annual SummerSeries, for performers 14 to 22 years of age only. This summer NTC will produce bare: a pop opera and Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom.
Bare has a book by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo
music by Damon Intrabartolo and lyrics by Jon Hartmere. Neighborhood 3 is written by Jennifer Haley.
Auditions for both productions will take place at NTC on Saturday March 28 from 1 pm to 6 pm, Sunday March 29 from 7 pm to 10 pm and Monday March 30 from 7 pm to 10 pm. No audition appointments are necessary, and interested auditioners may attend any of the audition dates. Auditioners may indicate that they are only auditioning for one of the shows or both. Those unable to attend auditions may submit a video audition for either/both productions. Please include a resume, current headshot and any production photos/video clips with your submission.
Please prepare two contrasting contemporary musical theatre songs in the style of bare (32 measures in length each and NOT from bare) and a two-minute contemporary dramatic or darkly comedic monologue. No prerecorded tracks will be allowed, please bring sheet music for both songs, in your key. An accompanist will be provided.
Both shows contain mature content.
Bare will be directed and choreographed by Paul Conroy with music direction by Johnny Holloway. Neighborhood 3 will be directed by (To be announced) .
Casting breakdown for bare is as follows and all roles are available:
JASON (male): handsome golden child of St. Cecilia's senior class. Tenor, up to an A.
PETER (male): introspective, Jason's clandestine boyfriend. Tenor, up to an A.
IVY (female): pretty, popular, insecure. Mezzo, with belt to E flat.
NADIA (female): Jason's pudgy, sardonic twin sister. Mezzo, with belt up to C.
MATT (male): studious, pious, Jason's academic rival. Bari-tenor, up to G.
LUCAS (male): The school's fun-loving purveyor of altered reality (drugs). Must be able to rap.
TANYA (female): Lucas's druggie girlfriend. Soprano.
KYRA (female): Close friends with Tanya, not the brightest girl in school. Alto.
DIANE (female): Nerdy goody-goody type, very naïve. Alto.
RORY (female): Super nerdy and very into her religious studies? takes her education and career very seriously. Soprano.
ZACK (male): Plays basketball with Lucas and Jason. Baritone.
ALAN (male): Has a ton of trouble getting dates? He’s a little socially weird. Tenor.
CLAIRE (female): Peter's mother. Mezzo, with belt to C.
SR. CHANTELLE (female): African-American nun, wise, no-nonsense. Mezzo/soprano, must be comfortable riffing/vocal ad lib and gospel singing.
PRIEST (male): St. Cecilia's headmaster. Bari-tenor up to G.
Additional Students (male and female): various kids at St. Cecilia’s. All vocal types.
Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom is vignettes of two-person scenes. The casting will be determined by the director. It can be cast with as few as four people or as many as 24. Casting is open to all body types and ethnicities.
Bare will be presented on NTC’s Main Stage June 18 – 21, 25 – 28, 2015. Neighborhood 3 will be presented in NTC’s Black Box July 16 – 19, 23 -16, 2015.
Newnan Theatre Company does not charge production fees of any kind to any performer to take part in our productions.
