DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS

2-4 beadsellers/cabin stewards – male or female – ages 12-16*

Steward – 30+ -- dark skinned, arab looking, always smiling and affable, takes everything in his stride

Ms FFoliot-FFoulkes – 60+ -- frightful snob, bad tempered and rude to everyone she thinks is beneath her

Christina Grant – 25+ -- sweet even tempered young lady, shy and introverted, is a doormat with respect to her aunt, Ms FF

Smith – 30+ -- rather unkept looking man, doesn’t care what anybody thinks about him – but his accent belies his appearance, although Ms FF has little time for him – what you see is not necessarily what you get with Smith

Louise -- 25+ -- the French maid – attractive, nice figure, flirt – is Kay’s maid

Dr Bessner – 55+ -- stout, wears glasses, speaks with a foreign accent – presumably German or Austrian

Kay Mostyn – 20-30 – beautiful and very attractive young woman, obviously has money, is dressed in expensive clothes and is very self assured

Simon Mostyn – 25-35 – good looking young man, has a pleasant manner and is recently married to Kay Mostyn

Canon Pennefather – 55+ -- imposing middle aged figure who speaks in a very commanding manner -- he is also Kay’s uncle/guardian

Jacqueline de Severac – 25-35 – very attractive young woman, cool, composed and looks quietly amused with life, likes to make dramatic entrances --

McNaught – 50+ -- Captain of the Boat – Scottish --

*the beadsellers after the first scene will become cabin stewards and do the scene changes;

Please note that the above age ranges are a guideline, casting will be based on who fits best for the roles, not necessarily sticking to the age ranges as described in the script

The play will be performed in 2 acts – not 3 as written in the script
