This is a FREE workshop for all children AGES 7-13 interested in being considered for the roles of “Jane & Michael Banks” and/or “Winthrop Paroo” & Amaryllis. (Character descriptions listed below). Theatre games, light singing and movement will be taught, all geared around “Mary Poppins” and “The Music Man” and how to be prepared for the audition. Note: Participation in workshop is not required to attend the “official audition” the following day.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
Jane in Mary Poppins – Should look about 10 years old, be a capable singer and able to act and move well on stage. Jane is outgoing, smart, sensible, and often reigns in her younger brother, Michael. *A proper British accent is a must!
Michael in Mary Poppins – Should look about 8 years old, be able to sing, act and move. Michael is outgoing, cheeky and often naughty – a typical little brother. *A proper British accent is a must!
Winthrop in The Music Man – Marion the Librarian’s brother, should look about 8 years old. Has his own solo, Gary Indiana. Must have stage presence and be able to lisp.
Amaryllis in The Music Man – Must look about 7 years old, has a secret crush on Winthrop but teases him about his lisp. Must be able to “cry” on cue.
All roles require singing and movement and a strong stage presence.
Ability and commitment to focus, take direction, work well with others.
No previous theatrical experience necessary. Must be available for ALL rehearsals and performances: MARY POPPINS (February 3-May 3, 2015) ; MUSIC MAN (June 2-August 16, 2015) There is pay, if cast.
