Hershey Area Playhouse Holds Auditions for Gypsy
Hershey Area Playhouse is holding auditions to fill seven adult female and ten adult male roles as well as various roles for children and teens for its upcoming production of the musical Gypsy, May 24 and 25.
Performers over the age of 12 will be seen on both May 24 and 25 in two registration periods. The first registration session will be from 2-2:30 p.m. and performers will be expected to stay until 4 p.m. The second session will be from4-4:30 p.m. and performers will be dismissed at 6 p.m. Performers under the age of 12 will be seen on May 24 only from 9 a.m.-noon. Anyone interested in auditioning needs to come prepared to sing a sampling of music, perform an age-appropriate monologue, and dance. Adult ensemble members may be playing multiple characters throughout the show so they must be versatile and up for anything. Auditions will take place at the Playhouse and callbacks will be held onMay 26.
Gypsy is a delightful musical that follows Mama Rose, a crazy stage mother who pushes her two daughters into the life of show business. The show features songs including “Let Us Entertain You” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.” Performances will be held July 17-20 and 24-27, 2014 at Hershey Area Playhouse.
Hershey Area Playhouse (www.HersheyAreaPlayhouse.com) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing residents of the community with an opportunity to participate in the creation and production of a theatrical experience. Since its inception in 1999, Hershey Area Playhouse has staged over 60 productions at numerous venues around the Hershey area. In April 2007, the Playhouse opened its new permanent home, Hershey Area Playhouse at Country Meadows.
