Sink Your Teeth into A Haunting Drama
“Dracula” by Stephen Dietz
At The Farmington Players Barn
The Farmington Players will hold auditions for “Dracula,” August 11th at 1pm (12:30 registration).
I want your fear. For your fear, like a current, rushes through your body. Your fear makes your heart pound, it renders your veins rich and full. Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you. This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker's classic novel to the stage. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances—in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker's famous vampire.
John Boufford, directing the play written by Stephen Dietz, is assisted by Alisha Gellin, with Keith Janoch as Technical Director and Kristi Schwartz & Laurel Stroud as producers.

Show Dates: October 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 31 November 1, 2. Sunday shows are at 2:00 p.m., all other shows at 8:00. Yes, there is a Halloween performance! Rehearsals will be scheduled based upon actor availability.

Character Descriptions:
DRACULA: (Ageless) Transylvanian Accent. Although this character is literally ageless, he must be able to portray ancient and young as well. As the playwright states: “The question, then, is not what Dracula represents, but what he is: A brilliant, seductive, fanged beast waiting to suck the blood from your throat. Hide from that.”
LUCY: (20’s) British Accent. A hopeless romantic admired by many suitors. Best friends with Mina, and a victim of Dracula’s seduction.
JONATHAN HARKER: (20’s to early 30’s) British Accent. Fiancé of Mina. A young attorney sent to Dracula for a nefarious purpose. It is through his journal that we get a glimpse of Castle Dracula.
MINA: (20’s) British Accent. The true Heroine of the story. Jonathan’s fiancé. VAN HELSING (Late 30’s to 50’s) Dutch Accent. A professor well versed in the dark arts.Dr. JAMES SEWARD (20’s to 30’s). British Accent. One of Lucy’s suitor’s who is called into action to attempt to save her life. Also studies Renfield.
RENFIELD: (30’s-50’s). Multiple Accents. Actor must be able to go from raging extremes to intense calm. He is the narrator of the story, and the one who understands every other character although he is deemed the lunatic.
WAITERS, ATTENDANTS, MAID, VIXENS: (1m, 2f). Additional actors are needed to fill character roles in the show. The characters all have lines. Vixens must be able to move seductively. Maid must have british accent.
