Rehearsals
Will begin at the end of August and will be held four to five times a week in some combination of Sunday through Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Audition Information
All roles are non-equity, non paid. Headshots & resumes are not required, but are gladly accepted. No appointments are necessary.

Auditioners are asked to prepare the following: Two selections of 16–32 bars of music, one for your audition piece and one for a back-up in case more is needed. It is preferred that auditioners bring sheet music and be prepared to sing with an accompianist. If needed, a CD player will be available. Please bring vocal selections that showcase your range and personality. You may be asked to sing a piece from the show, so please familiarize yourself with the music. No monologues are necessary. Readings will be done from the script. Cabaret is a dance heavy show, so please come prepared to dance. Auditioners for the roles of Cliff, Ernst, Fraulein Schneider, and Herr Schultz are not required to participate in dance auditions. Video auditions will not be accepted.

Character Breakdown
Age ranges are for the look of the character, not necessarily the age of the actor. Actors auditioning need to be able to convincingly portray that age range.

Cabaret contains adult themes of a graphic nature. Please be prepared for the expectations of the roles if you are cast.

Emcee (25–40): The host/master of ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub — Must be comfortable with being close to both men and women; comedic, lovable, sinister; requires agile stage movement and dance; age range and appearance flexible, speaks with a German accent.

Sally Bowles (20–35): A British cabaret singer at the Kit Kat Klub, a quirky character who comes across as flighty, yet at times struggles with knowing the darkness of the reality of her life as a cabaret performer; comfortable with stage movement and dance; speaks with a British accent.

Cliff Bradshaw (25–35): An American novelist and English teacher traveling to Berlin; comfortable with stage movement and light dance.

Fraulein Schneider (50+): The landlady who rents rooms in her large flat; comfortable with stage movement and light dance (waltz); speaks with a German accent.

Herr Schultz (50+): One of Fraulein Schneider’s roomers and the proprietor of a fruit shop; comfortable with stage movement and light dance (waltz); speaks with a German accent

Fraulein Kost (25–40): Another of Fraulein Schneider’s roomers, she earns money by offering favors to sailors, presentation of the character should exhibit a strong sexual comfort and commanding nature; comfortable with stage movement; may also be cast as a Kit Kat Girl; speaks with a German accent.

Ernst Ludwig (25–40): A friendly and likable German, takes English lessons from Cliff, and smuggles funds for the Nazi party; comfortable with stage movement and light dance (waltz); speaks with a German accent.

Kit Kat Girls (18–35): An ensemble of five to six Kit Kat Girls will be selected; looking for all body types — the key is being comfortable with portraying the sexual nature of the characters. One of the “Two Ladies” will be drawn from this group; strong dance skills are required.

Kit Kat Boys (18–35): An ensemble of two to four will be cast as Kit Kat waiters and patrons; one of the “Two Ladies” and the Gorilla will be drawn from this group; should be comfortable with portraying the sexual nature of the characters; strong dance skills are required.
