BATS Theatre is in the final week of its International Comedy Festival. Hayley Sproull and her piano are currently tuning up in the theatre for the opening of Miss Fletcher Sings the Blues. Also opening this week is WIT returning with their crazy new improvised Western The Last Saloon and the return of 2010 favourites Public Service Announcements with a brand new show satirising all things political. I had a sneak peek at rehearsals last week and (just like in real life) Winston is back.

This week at BATS:

The Last Saloon
Presented by WIT
PART OF THE 2012 INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL
Opens Tuesday until Saturday 19th May @ 6.30pm
$18 / $14 / Groups 6+ $15

Welcome to the unwritten frontier. Where every one is wild at heart. And every stranger brings a story. Wellington Improvisation Troupe’s latest show evokes the Wild West to explore character without limits and comedy where no laws apply.

Miss Fletcher Sings the Blues
Created and performed by Hayley Sproull
PART OF THE 2012 INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL
Opens Tuesday until Saturday 19th May @ 8pm
$18 / $14 / Groups 6+ $15
SEASON NEARLY SOLD OUT!

Miss Fletcher; motivator, inspirer, teacher. She's down, she cares and she is ready to tackle the issues. The big issues. The world issues. All the issues. It's as explosive as puberty, minus the stains.

Public Service Announcements: The Budget Show
by James Nokise and the No Fefe Collective
PART OF THE 2012 INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL
Opens Wednesday until Saturday 19th May @ 9.30pm
$18 / $14 / Groups 6+ $15

After a sold-out season in the 2011 NZ Comedy Festival and a legendary 6-week run during the Rugby World Cup, Public Service Announcements returns with an ALL NEW SHOW. Join your Beehive favourites Hone, Winston, Banks, Dunne and all the rest as they once again tackle “the big issues”.

COMING UP:

Assisted Living
by Jo Randerson
Presented by Long Cloud Youth Theatre
Wednesday 23rd May - Saturday 9th June @ 7.30pm
$20 / $14 / Groups 6+ $15

“It's great to be 22. It’s like, totally ideal. If we could all be frozen at a certain age, that would be the place to stop." Assisted Living investigates a world where this age group is kept separate from the rest of humanity and the various issues that arise from this. Is this really the ‘ideal age’? What would the world look like with no elderly, no children, no death? And is anyone else hearing voices? A mindbending new work from the acclaimed Long Cloud Youth Theatre that is equal parts Sci-Fi, Greek Myth and The Sims. Directed by Aaron Cortesi.

BATS Theatre is located at 1 Kent Terrace, Wellington, Aotearoa. Email at book@bats.co.nz or visit online at www.bats.co.nz. For bookings, call 802 4175; office - 802 4176.
