A Christmas Carol
By Charles Dickens
Adapted and Directed by Michael Tobin
While this adaptation remains true to Charles Dickens' beloved novella, action prevails over narration in this engaging production of A Christmas Carol. With over 100 costume pieces and wigs, period set pieces and props, and numerous special effects, you will be transported to the Victorian 1800's from the very moment you step into the lobby. The show also features plenty of traditional and original music.
This is the adaptation that was used back in December 1992, for the Players' Ring Theatre's premiere production!

The holiday season wouldn’t be complete without seeing the classic Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” running at the Players’ Ring Theatre for the first three weeks of December.
Thirty years ago, Michael Tobin stood in the wings of The Players' Ring, waiting for the City of Portsmouth's final approval before opening the doors and welcoming audiences to the very first show of the area's newest theater.
The Players' Ring will honor the history and legacy of that very first show with their production of Michael Tobin's A Christmas Carol, running from December 2nd-22nd.
The Players' Ring continues its 30th Anniversary season with the world premiere of Walter Freeman's 9/12, a provocative and compelling comedy/drama about an unexpected visitor on the day after the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy.
The Players' Ring opens its first post-pandemic season – and 30th Anniversary Season – with Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park, a romantic comedy bubbling with hilarious hijinks, from September 18 to October 3, at its Prescott Park home, 105 Marcy Street, Portsmouth.
With the hope of making the best of “the worst of times,” The Players' Ring will premiere an original, one-man version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol – America's favorite family holiday tradition – adapted by and starring Christopher Savage, from November 27 to December 20, with both live and online performances.
Director Deb Barry knew some people would raise an eyebrow when she set a?oeA Christmas Carola?? in Lowell, Mass. The Players' Ring had produced the Dickens holiday classic 24 times before and it was always set in London. But Lowell?a??a??
