All that jazz is coming to Greendale Community Theatre (GCT) this winter! Join in on the cell block tango as GCT presents the #1 longest-running American musical, Chicago.

In the midst of the razzle-dazzle decadence of 1920s Chicago, Roxie Hart (Grace Yeager) and Velma Kelly (Amber Smith) find themselves together on death row after being convicted for murder. After initially vying for the spotlight and headlines, they ultimately work together to achieve the ultimate “American Dream:” fame, fortune and acquittal. With choreography inspired by the legendary Bob Fosse and a dazzling score, Chicago showcases the intriguing concept of the “celebrity criminal.”

Chicago takes place in Greendale High School’s Reiman Family Arts Wing, 6801 Southway, Greendale. Performance dates are January 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for General Admission. Student / Senior tickets are $12. Tickets are available online at greendaletheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at (414) 817-7600. Tickets are also available at the door at GCT’s Box Office which opens at 6:30 p.m. on performance days.

Director Brian Bzdawka is thrilled to bring this fan-favorite to GCT this winter. “Chicago is a musical that is known and beloved by many, making it a perfect option for us this winter,” said Bzdawka. “Our cast features a great mix of familiar faces and brand-new faces to GCT, which together will make for a great show.”

Choreographer Stephanie Staszak is looking forward to bringing the signature Fosse style of dance to the GCT stage. “It is extremely fun to have a show where dance is at the forefront, especially with choreography inspired by Bob Fosse,” said Staszak. “This show helped to put Fosse on the map for his extremely distinct and innovative style and I love having the opportunity to bring that to the GCT stage for the first time.”

Known for its edgy show choices and next-to-professional production value and talent, GCT has captivated audiences since 2003 with productions like Avenue Q, The Little Mermaid, [title of show], RENT and Les Misérables.

Greendale Community Theatre- Redefining Community Theatre:
Established in 2003, Greendale Community Theatre (GCT) has grown into one of the most reputable theatres in southeastern Wisconsin. An affiliate of the Greendale Park and Recreation Department, GCT and its members are passionate about the arts. We are proud to be at the leading edge of producing contemporary musical theatre, and we encourage all our cast, crew and patrons to be responsible, active members of a strong community.

About the Ethan Monson-Dupuis Opiate Recovery Fund of the Aurora Foundation:
The Ethan Monson-Dupuis Opiate Recovery Fund of the Aurora Foundation honors the life of Ethan Monson-Dupuis while providing recovery resources to opiate addicts. Ethan lost his life at a young age after a long struggle with addiction; his parents set up “Ethan’s Fund” to help ensure addicts get the best treatment possible. The fund supports Aurora’s year-long Opiate Recovery Program. This program provides consistent monitoring of a patient, requires them to be accountable to being in therapy and provides support, ultimately reducing the risk of relapse.
