The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and Milwaukee Public Schools continue to partner for the Center's performing arts outreach program - Arts Connect. The Center is thrilled to announce this program is continuing to grow with its second Mini Arts Camp during the run of the Broadway show, Kinky Boots. This opportunity is free of cost and has expanded this year to include students from both MPS' Riverside University High School and Ronald Reagan College Preparatory High School who have a strong interest in the performing arts. This program gives these students access to arts professionals and the chance to experience various aspects of the performing arts industry first hand.

This year's Mini Arts Camp begins this morning and runs through Thursday, June 2. Various workshops will be held throughout the week including audition workshops led by local actress Ms. Niffer Clark, a tour of the Marcus Center, Vocal, Acting and Sound/Lighting Master Classes, as well as a College Panel Discussion with Admissions Staff from Marquette University, UW-Milwaukee and UW-Parkside.

The arts camp wraps up with a master class with Michael Milkanin, Dance Captain from Kinky Boots. This class will teach the students various dance skills they can use to enhance their performances. The students will also have an opportunity to see Kinky Boots live on Sunday, JUNE 5.

"The Marcus Center values our partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools and the opportunity to share Broadway with their students," said Paul Mathews, President and CEO of the Marcus Center. "This program is a vital piece of our commitment to using art to build bridges between diverse parts of our community. We will continue to expand our efforts with the help of our generous sponsors."

"Associated Bank is proud to be the premier sponsor of Broadway at the Marcus Center, including the award-winning Kinky Boots performance," said John Halechko, Associated's EVP and Director of Branch Banking. "As part of our sponsorship, we are honored to support the Kinky Boots dance workshop. This activity offers high school students an opportunity to learn about the performing arts surrounding a story about diversity of human expression and identity that creates opportunity."
