Victor Jacobi's operetta tells the tale of an unpredictable and excruciatingly tedious love affair that is surrounded by chaos and confusion. Every character is jealous of someone. And every character is in love with someone. But who exactly, in the end?

The guests are arriving one by one to one of the most lavish hotels of the Great Russian Empire: Sybill, the Parisian songstress, Petrov, her Russian soldier lover who is even willing to be tried by court-martial for her, Poire, Sybill's manager, and Sarah, his wife. The lovers are heading for Paris when the Governor appears. Consequently, Sybill becomes the Grand Duchess, and the Grand Duchess turns into Sybill. Everyone wants Petrov, who, in turn, wants Sybill. And we haven't even mentioned the Grand Duchess, who wants something else entirely!

Although Jacobi's most celebrated piece, The Wedding Market, debuted in 1911 in the Royal Theatre, it was Sybill that brought international acclaim to the composer. This unique operetta is made even more special by featuring two primadonnas and two tenors fighting with each other - and for each other.

This fantastic operetta presents not only the leading artists of Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre, but guest artist Zoltán Miller, as well, starring in the role of the Grand Duke. Sybill will be staged in the direction of Máté Szabó, featuring the original book revised by Barbara Ari-Nagy.
