The well-known melodies, the passionate choreographies and the charming storyline invite us to a show that features the most prominent figures of the contemporary operetta world along with several promising young talents. And meanwhile, the production is also a statement about the issues, excitements and torments of theatre-making. It is an experimental piece that tells about feelings, differences in interpretation, but also about joys and little funny flops. We are looking for a connection between past and present in a playful, funny, yet bittersweet way.

Ferenc Farkas would most likely be impressed with the rebirth of his work, as he was a very productive composer who wrote music for several motion pictures and theatrical shows, and was deeply concerned about the feedback and the love of the audience. He was a great artist who would have celebrated his 110th birthday in 2015, and who still had successful premieres in the Opera House at the age of 90, while teaching the greatest talents of the future, including György Ligeti, György Kurtág, Sándor Szokolay, Emil Petrovics and Tihamér Vujicsics.

We are doing a very important job here! The story and the passionate music of Csínom Palkó fits the needs of contemporary theatre very well, and we believe that we can transform it into a genuinely Hungarian, historical, yet fresh and youthful piece that contains enough food for thought for everyone, while dealing with very timely issues.

The great Hungarian poet, Sándor Pet?fi once wrote: "Stand up for us, dear audience, so that we can progress. And progress, so that we can stand up for you."

We hope that this new adaptation of Csínom Palkó will be welcomed and loved by our audience, and will make them stand up for it.
