SUMMER ARTS INTENSIVE will present the groovy American love-rock musical HAIR on July 29, 30, August 3, 4 & 5 at 7:30pm and at 2:30pm on July 31. All performances will be held at West Fargo Sheyenne High School (800 40th Avenue East). The granddaddy of all rock musicals, HAIR is at once both a joyous celebration of youth and a poignant journey through the tumultuous 1960s in America.

Inspired by the hippie counter-culture and social revolution of the 1960s, the musical introduces the audience to a tribe of loveable hippies who try to make a utopia to cope with the chaotic and violent world around them. These young people protest the Vietnam War, celebrate their freedoms, and take a stand on the inequities of race, gender, and class. Forty-seven musical numbers including "Aquarius," "Good Morning Starshine,"and "Easy to be Hard," memorably add to the social commentary while allowing audiences to consider for their selves how far our country has come and how far it still has to go. Feel the love, spread the peace, and "Let the Sunshine In" with HAIR.

Led by local arts educators and professionals, SUMMER ARTS INTENSIVE's mission is to further develop the personal and artistic talents of emerging young artists as they gain a comprehensive understanding of theatre production and performance. HAIR features a cast, crew, and orchestra of 40+ artists from around the Fargo- Moorhead area and marks the sixth season of SUMMER ARTS INTENSIVE following previous productions of PIPPIN, A CHORUS LINE, CHICAGO, SPAMALOT, and last year's hit RENT.

Tickets are $16.00 for adults, $13.00 for seniors, and $10.00 for students and can be reserved beginning Monday, July 18th online at www.WestFargoTheatre.com. Phone reservations begin July 25th by calling 701-499- 3237 Monday-Friday from 1-4pm.
