Breakdown

In 1940, Kurt Muller, a German engineer, and his American wife Sara, return to the US to visit Sara’s family after 18 years in Germany. Located just outside of Washington, DC, the Farrelly family’s home soon plays host to an unwanted amount of political tension. Kurt has been deeply involved in anti-Fascist movements in Spain and Germany while the Farrelly’s other guest, Romanian count Teck de Brancovis, has been secretly helping the Germans while living in Washington. As tensions rise, Kurt and Sara begin to realize that the peaceful life they had hoped to live may not be possible at home or abroad.
