Theatre Elision 2017-18 Season

The season will include five musicals requiring a wide variety of acting and singing styles. Strong vocal skills and parts singing are required for all shows. There are two additional shows in the season that cannot be announced yet due to licensing requirements.

Goblin Market (Fall 2017):

A musical adaptation of Christina Rossetti’s 1859 narrative poem by Polly Pen and Peggy Harmon.

Available role:

Lizzie (Female mid-20s to mid-30s); Legit soprano with large range (G3-G5).

This is a demanding vocal role (leading toward an operatic/classical sound), but also requires strong acting. Those interested in this role should audition with an art song or a legit musical theatre song (belt or contemporary wouldn’t be a fit).

The role of Laura has been cast.

Ghost Quartet (Fall 2017):

A contemporary song cycle about love, death and whiskey by Dave Malloy (creator of “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812).

Available roles:

(2) Females – Any age

(2) males – Any age

These are demanding vocal roles with challenging harmonies and some a capella singing. Particularly interested in performers who can play instruments (e.g., guitar, cello, ukulele, accordion, dulcimer, autoharp)

Ain’t It a Grand and Glorious Feeling: Celebrating the Princess Musicals (Spring 2018):

Original musical incorporating the music of Jerome Kern.

Available roles:

Jessica: Ingénue type, mid-20s
Ashley: Comedic character type, mid-20s
Michael: Leading man type, mid-20s
Matt: Comedic character type, short in stature, mid-20s

The music in this show is quintessential early Broadway from 1915-1918. Those interested in this show should bring songs by Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and the like.
