Seeking:

Charity Hope Valentine
She is a taxi dancer at the Fandango Ballroom in New York City circa 1960, she is an eternal optimist who only wants “to be loved”, yet more often than not she manages to fall for the wrong guy. The role was created by Gwen Verdon and must be played by a genuine triple threat singer/dancer/actor. Mezzo, age 28-40.

Oscar Lindquist
A meek and slightly nerdy accountant. Nervous, but not without a charm. Good comedian. Baritone,age 35-45

Nickie
Charity’s friend at the Fandango – a little bit motherly, she’s been there. Dreams of getting out of the taxi dancer business. Age 28-40. Must sing and dance extremely well.

Helene
Charity’s friend at the Fandango Ballroom, a follower more than a leader, not as sure of herself as Nickie, and not as optimistic as Charity. Age 25-35. Must dance and sing extremely well.

Vittorio Vidal
An Italian movie star, suave and good looking, speaks with an accent. Baritone –age 35-50

Herman Lindquist
The manager at the Fandango Ballroom, he has a gruff exterior with a sentimental side. Good comedian, strong tenor – age 40-60. Will also play ensemble roles

Ursula March
Vittorio’s girlfriend. Fiery, hot tempered, statuesque. Will also play ensemble roles. Age 22-30

Daddy Brubeck
The leader of the Rhythm of Life Church. A spiritual beatnik. Will also play ensemble roles. Baritone. Age – 30-50
