PREPARATION
Prepare EITHER: 1) a brief song if only auditioning for musicals; OR 2) a brief monologue if only auditioning for plays; OR a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song if auditioning for both plays and musicals. If singing, bring sheet music; accompanist provided. All bring picture and resume.

Victor: The café’s owner and sole patron. When Monsieur returns from the bullfights his wish is simple to die at his own table. Obsessed with Hemingway. Victor is 50 – 60 ish
Claude: Professionally devoted headwaiter and married to Mimi. Has his sights set on Antoine. Claude is 35 - 45
Mimi: Attractive and charming waitress. Her employment is unnecessary. Mimi is early 30’s
Gaston: Head Chef. Frustrated that all of his dishes are going to naught and lusts after Mimi. Gaston is 50 ish
Antoine: Stammering waiter-in-training with journalistic aspirations. More interested in taking down Victor’s life story. Early 20’s
Miss Berger: The object of Victor’s affection, who set him spiraling into despair ever since their trip to Madrid 30 – 40 ish

Pastor: Founding pastor with the voice of a television preacher. Church has grown from a modest storefront to a congregation of thousands. The pastor is late 40’s
Wife: Ethnic woman in her Early 40’s . Church pillar who is furious that the Pastor didn't discuss the content of his controversial sermon with her beforehand.
Associate: African American. Begins to question Pastor’s logic in church. African American. Early 30’s
Elder: Cares only about maintaining the status quo. He is 50 - 65
Congregant: A devoted follower. She is heavyset and sweet. Not highly educated. Mid 20’s – Mid 30’s

Sibyl Chase: Elyot’s attractive, twenty-three-year-old 2nd wife. Feels very threatened by Amanda. Naïve, vacant, sweet and relatively vapid. She thinks being childish is being sexy. Mid-20’s. Proper British dialect a must.
Elyot Chase: Handsome, wealthy, very charming, thirtyish, self-possessed man. Looking for true love. Sibyl's new husband who was formerly married to Amanda. Erudite and sophisticated, he has rapier wit which he uses for good and ill. Pianist is a plus. Early 30’s. Proper British dialect a must.
Victor Prynne: Amanda’s second husband. Handsome man a few years older than Elyot. Stuffy and lacks a sense of humor. Dignified. Mid-30’s. Proper British dialect a must.
Amanda Prynne: Elyot’s first wife, newly married to Victor Prynne. Fiery temper and a tendency toward impulsive behavior, she has an appetite for life. Clever and a bit theatrical. Early 30’s. Proper British dialect a must.
Louise: Amanda’s French maid. Inability to speak or comprehend English. Any age. Must be fluent in French (has no English lines). Her attitude is everything.

Velma Kelly: (Female. Vocal Part: Alto. Age Range: 25-45) Vaudevillian and murderess who is on trial for killing her cheating husband and sister. Sexy, sarcastic, tough.
Roxie Hart: (Female. Vocal Part: Mezzo. Age Range: 25-40) Wannabe vaudevillian and murderess who kills her lover after a spat and is sent to jail.
Amos Hart: Amos Hart: (Male. Vocal Part: Baritone. Age Range: 30-50) An auto mechanic and the hapless husband of Roxie. Not very good looking and not very smart, but is a lovable and good natured man
Matron Mama Morton: (Female. Vocal Part: Alto. Age Range: 30-50) The tough, sassy warden of the Cook County Jail, who believes all favors should be reciprocated or paid for.
Billy Flynn: (Male. Vocal Part: Baritone. Age Range: 35-50) Velma and Roxie's lawyer. A sexy, persuasive, manipulative lawyer who can persuade anyone to do anything.
Mary Sunshine: (Male. Vocal Part: Soprano. Age Range: 25-55) Newspaper reporter who follows the trials of both Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly.

Young Patrick Dennis (age 10): Mame's nephew. After being orphaned, becomes her ward. Precocious and well spoken.
Agnes Gooch: Patrick's nanny, Mame's personal secretary; frequently joins them on their many adventures. Frumpy and awkward. 30 ish.
Vera Charles: Mame's bosom buddy and world's greatest lush. Acerbic, dry witted, overly theatrical. About 40
Mame Dennis: glamorous and eccentric woman who takes her nephew, Patrick, into her care after his father passes away. Expansive personality. Around 40
M. Lindsey Woolsey: Mame’s former suitor. 45.
Ito: Mame’s Asian butler/all-purpose household helper. He has a very thick Asian accent. Any age
Dwight Babcock: the stuffy and officious executor of Patrick's father's estate. Late 50’s
Madame Branslowski/ Mother Burnside: Russian/Southern…character actor. Late 40’s to early 60’s
Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside: wealthy, very Southern gentleman who marries Mame. 45 or so (its all relative to Mame…)
Sally Cato: Beau’s intended. Sugary sweet Southern accent, dripping with venom. Late 30’s
Older Patrick Dennis : Mame's nephew as a collegian. Character ages from 19 to his 30’s.

Mr. Upson: Insufferable bore and bigot. Suburban snob. Late 40’s/early 50’s.
Mrs. Upson: Just what you’d expect his wife to be. Vapid suburban housewife with affected sophistication
Gloria Upson: snobby girl from a snobby family, empty-headed debutante. Speaks with a clenched jaw. Late teens – early 20’s
Peter Dennis: Patrick and Pegeen’s son. Age 10
