Saint Dad

Seeking:

Casey, 40, an English professor who has worked hard to leave her Maine roots behind.

Bud Casey, 45, Suzanne's brother, laid-off machine tender, with a great sense of humor who puts up with his sisters

Denise Thibodeau, 50, older sister of Bud and Suzanne, laid-off machine tender with a big heart who has helped hold the Casey family together

Leona Williams, 46, a corporate communications director, She is organized and successful and recently moved to Maine from a big city who is making her dream home on a lake in Maine.

Thomasina, 18, Leona's daughter, 18 going on 45. She “borrowed” her stepmother’s car to drive to Maine. .

The Play that Goes Wrong

All are in their 20s or 30s and physically adept performers. While a comedy, the actors are committed to the truth of the production. All ethnicities and gender identities are encouraged to audition for all roles.

Seeking:

Chris- The confident director of the production, as head of the drama society, he also plays Inspector Carter, the “Sherlock Holmes” of the piece.

Jonathan/Charles Haversham- A physically adept actor whose character thinks of himself as a James Portland Stage Co. 2023-24 Season - Portland, ME EPA Page 2 of 4

Bond type despite a somewhat ordinary exterior.

Robert/ Thomas Colleymoore- Knowing that he is the star of the show, he can persevere/ plow through any obstacle that comes his way.

Dennis/ Perkins- The anxious butler who wants to do thing right.

Sandra/ Florence Colleymoore- A leading lady who is convinced she is going far. Smart and driven, this role is physically challenging.

Max/Cecil Haversham/ Arthur the Gardener- A novice actor who easily gets distracted. He finds joy in simple things and has moments of true inspiration.

Annie- The company’s tentative stage manager who finds herself thrust in the role of lead actress when the star is knocked unconscious, and she grows to fill the role.

Trevor- Any gender. A theater techie who dislikes actors, as the company’s lighting and sound operator they keep the technical side of the production moving forward.

Clyde’s

Seeking:

Jason- Mid-twenties to early 30’s. White. Working class. Funny. Served 8 years in prison. White supremacist affiliation. Goes from being seen as a threat to open and vulnerable. Has comedic chops.

Clyde- late 30’s - 50’s. Any race. Great comedic chops. Able to change the temperature of a room with an entrance. Dominatrix. Loves to expose vulnerabilities. Seductive. Brash. Controls the room. Delights in humiliating others. Wicked. Runs truck stop.

Montrellous- 40’s-late 50’s. Mindful. Served many years in prison. Interested in healing. Kind. Working class. Sensitive and caring, particularly to the younger generation. Uses cooking as a means of meditation. Funny.

Rafael- Mid-late 20’s. Latinx. Formerly incarcerated. A romantic. Loves food. In love with Letitia. Funny. Fun. Playful. Recovering. Working to find a more spiritual path. Full of charm. Terrified of his boss. Has great comedic timing.

Letitia- Mid-late 20’s. Black. Recently released from prison, she is trying to build her life up again. Mother to a daughter with health issues, her job is important to her even when the atmosphere is toxic. A romantic, she is looking to find a genuine partner. She is a survivor and has life skills. She is working towards building a mindful path. Very funny. Has great comedic timing.

Manning

Seeking:

Julio- Male, 50s, Father of Sebastian and Freddy. He is a chef whose first language is Spanish and who has lost the love of his life.

Sebastian- Male, mid 20s, the older of the two sons and a falconer. He has come back to the family home bringing the bird he has trained as a hunter.

Freddy- Male, late teens, the younger of two sons and a gardener. A vegetarian, he is the one who has stayed and is closest to his mother.

Ana- Female 40s to 50s. Ana has died. We hear her voice and see her as the actor manipulating the Zucchini, a vegetable that is exactly Ana’s size, and the hawk that Sebastian brings.
