Breakdown
FRANK:
(Male 60’s) Italian - plays himself in flashbacks and present. In present, old and frail, slipping in and out of present, sometimes sentimental, regretful, but clinging on to his tougher, younger persona; in flashbacks, strong, tough and vigorous, no-nonsense and realistic, self-reliant, hard on his son to teach him a lesson, masculine, a fighter.
DAVE:
(Male 40’s) Italian - plays himself in flashbacks and present. Softer and more intellectual than Frank, gay but you would not know it right away, grappling with complex feelings for his father which spill out to his present relationships, patient but can be angry when pushed, white collar type; in flashbacks, childish wonder, trusting, and seeking approval.
