BREAKDOWN

Capital Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of Steve Peterson’s compelling political drama. Deborah, the wife of an ex-pat working in Paris, becomes entangled in the anti-Semitism of present day France when her husband’s employee finds herself as the victim of several hate crimes. Determined to help this woman, Deborah demands that her husband Charlie take action to defend the Jewish woman and end the harassment. When Charlie’s boss gets involved, both his job and their marriage are suddenly at stake in Deborah’s fight for justice.

SEEKING:

DEBORAH (Female, mid 40s) Jewish American expat living in Paris for her husband’s corporate job. She has not been able to have a child, which has left her feeling lost and unfulfilled. She has taken a job at a tolerance foundation and has found her purpose in the cause of a young lady (Reina) who has been the victim of an anti-Semitic attack. In the midst of a marital crisis of faith, she finds herself falling prey to the advances of a sexy French manager at her husband’s company and cares for Reina as if she were her daughter. She is charming and funny. $800/week

CHARLIE: (Male, mid 40s) Deborah’s husband. He is quintessentially American, handsome, and appealing. Very WASP-y, kind and sweet, with a boyish charm. He has a good-hearted disposition and people pleasing posture, he is upset by the state of his marriage and his wife’s apparent connection to the younger Frenchman at his firm. He follows his wife’s lead to call out the anti-Semitic incident at his firm and wants to make things right – but he is wary of the political ramifications. $800/week

MARTIN (Male, mid 50s) Irish American CEO of a big corporation from Boston. He is bold, brash and unapologetically politically incorrect. $800/week

PHILIPE (Male 30s – 40s) French corporate leader at Martin’s company, he is charming, very good looking, and attracted to Deborah. Or is he? He appears to want to help find the culprit for the attacks, but he turns out to be the culprit himself. He will do anything to land himself a promotion. A suave, stylish, sexy man with a secret. Must have excellent facility with French dialect. $800/week

REINA (Female, mid 20s) She is a Jewish-French millennial. She runs the social media department at Charlie’s company and finds herself the victim of an anti-Semitic attack, but is uncomfortable pointing a finger toward the Muslims at her company. Must have excellent facility with French dialect. $700/week
