Breakdown

Preparation Instructions:

Please prepare ONE brief vocal selection that is appropriate for the role(s) to which you feel you are most suited. An accompanist will be provided, bring sheet music in your key and you MUST bring 5 (FIVE) pictures and resumes stapled together. Representatives with casting authority from each show will be present, you are free to bring in something specifically appropriate for any of the shows, or perform ONE general selection that shows you off best - but, as in years past, we are NOT permitting more than one vocal selection.

SEEKING:

[JAY SUBASINGHE] male, late 20s/early 30s, American of Indian/South Asian descent (no Indian accent, arrived in Cleveland at 5 years old). Jay is the only son of successful local restauranteur Nish Subasinghe. A lazy but charismatic schemer, Jay spent the last year squandering his inheritance. Rock Tenor.

[NEIL JACKSON] male, late 20s/early 30s, any ethnicity. He is a gifted mathematician, but socially awkward. Tenor.

[CARLISE WASHINGTON] transgender (male to female), late 20s, any ethnicity. Streetwise. Must be able to wail, vocally - comfortable in pop/R&B styles.

[BENNY JACOWITZ] male, any ethnicity, 28. Short and stocky/heavy. Benny is the perfect wingman - a motivating partner and loyal to the end. However, he is not a leader. He doesn’t take the first steps, but is happy to follow. Huge heart. Dance is important, must groove well. Tenor.

[SANTINE SUBASINGHE] female, late 20s, American of Indian/South Asian descent (no Indian accent, arrived in Cleveland at 3 years old.) Jay's younger sister. She has an independent streak and fought for her respect in the neighborhood. Unlike her brother, she performed excellently at school. Rock Belter.

[EARLENE FLOYD] female, Caucasian, 40s. Earlene knows trailer homes well. She was raised in one, spent her honeymoon in one, divorced outside one, and raised her twins in one. Earlene is driven and will do anything to achieve her goals. Alto/Belter.

[ENSEMBLE FEMALE] 40+, any ethnicity, to play a variety of characters. Strong singer/dancer.

[ENSEMBLE FEMALE] 20s-30s, any ethnicity, to play Loose Letter Lou and a variety of characters. Strong singer/dancer - alto with good rock vocals.

[ENSEMBLE FEMALE] any ethnicity, to play a variety of characters. Strong singer/dancer. Soprano with good rock vocals.

[ENSEMBLE MALE] 40+, any ethnicity, to play The Vet a variety of characters. Strong singer/dancer.

[ENSEMBLE MALE] 20s-30s, any ethnicity, to play Billy Joe #1 and a variety of characters. Strong singer/dancer. Tenor with good rock vocals.

[ENSEMBLE MALE] 20s-30s, any ethnicity, to play Billy Joe #2 and a variety of characters. Strong singer/dancer. Bass/baritone with good rock vocals.
