Note: This is a combined EPA between NORTHERN STAGE COMPANY and NEW LONDON BARN PLAYHOUSE. Actors will also be auditioning both theatres' Seasons at these EPAs.

Preparation
Prepare one monologue and one 32-measure vocal selection for musical performers. Non-musical performers may present two contrasting monologues. Please bring a picture and resume. An accompanist will be provided but will not transpose.

Audition slots will be 5 minutes long.

Tommy Albright:
Late twenties, attractive and sensitive. Unhappy with his “fine job and fine girl” back home in New York. He is searching for a love and a life he can believe in. (Tenor- must move well)

Fiona MacLaren:
Early twenties, graceful and altogether lovely. She is bright, has a gentle sense of humor, and is completely frank to the point of being quite disarming. She is part of the miraculous village. (Legit Soprano- must move well)

Seeking:

Shrek
A big, green, terrifying ogre who lives alone in a swamp. He embarks on a journey to rid his land of fairytale creatures and, along the way, falls in love with Fiona. Begins as a grumpy hermit, but reveals his layers and eventually becomes the hero. (Excellent singer and actor; high baritone/tenor).

Dragon
A dragon that has been charged with guarding Princess Fiona in her isolated castle. She eventually falls in love with Donkey and attempts to keep him there forever. Imposing and flirtatious, but tired of her job as the glorified baby-sitter. (Mezzo/belter).

Annabella/Pamela/Margaret
One actor who plays the three woman in the play. Annabella- An exotic secret agent, Annabella Schmidt is in dire need of Hannay’s help. Pamela- A beautiful woman, Pamela is lured into Hannay’s adventure but is skeptical of his claims of innocence. Margaret Crofter the farmer’s wife, Margaret is a shy young woman who dreams of life and adventure in the city.

Smart, funny man who is perhaps a little fussy. Not very good at being sly, but has a sharp mind and a quick wit. He is affable and charming, if not sexy.

Robert
Kind, not very good at lying and perhaps gets a bit too flustered under pressure. He is having an affair with Jacqueline, but is maybe not exactly cut out for the sneaking around and deception it requires.

Suzette
The cook. Quick, sassy and always ready to make a buck. She isn't afraid to dive into whatever the job requires and isn't ashamed to make sure she is paid for each additional task. She is not very good at playing the high society role, but what she lacks in experience she makes up in gusto.
