Equity actors for (NAATC) Naptown African American Theater Collective's 2024 Season (See breakdown).

PREPARATION

Please prepare 1 dramatic monologue, 1 comedic monologue, no longer than 4- minutes total. There will also be a cold read at the audition. Sides provided upon arrival at audition. Also, bring your headshot and resume stapled together. If you are unable to attend in-person auditions, please see breakdown for instructions on submitting a self-tape.

SYNOPSIS: Xavier is a budding business owner with big dreams, a complicated past and a sister who is both his heart and his headache. Can the siblings work through their deferred dreams to build a legacy? Or will grief tear them apart?

SEEKING:

Xavier (X): 43, Black Man. Charlie’s older brother. A determined man with a complicated past. He’s passionate about his boxing and resentful of his childhood and complicated relationship with his mother.

Charli: Early 30s Black woman. X’s younger sister. A brilliant pre-med student who was very close to her mother.

Camille: Early to mid-30s, Black woman. Love interest of Xavier. Business minded, manipulative, very focused on coming up at all costs.

SYNOPSIS: Family traditions are passed through generations. But how can you break a tradition that is now coming through the bloodline? More than food is cooked in this stirring drama filled with hilarious commentary of four Black women navigating the journey of loss and hope.

SEEKING:

Lil’ Mama: Pre-teens, Black girl/woman. Sweet, not naive, but close. VERY Gen-Z (more centered on self).

Nelly: 18-25, Looks like they can be a teen Black woman. Married, sharp tongued and growingly weathered.

Lillian: 30s, Black woman. Eldest sister, responsible one.

Mama: A Mature Black Woman, Don’t Ask Her Age, Black woman. Matriarch, wise and loving. Sharp with a hint of sweetness.
