BREAKDOWN
EUROPE, by David Greig, takes place in a small border town where the trains no longer stop.
Fret (male, white, 50-70): The stationmaster, a bantam rooster.
Adele (female, white, 20-30): Fret’s assistant. Both a rebel and a romantic—she wants OUT.
Berlin (male, white, 25-40): Married to Adele, a blue-collar worker.
Morocco (male, any race, 30-50): A grifter, a fixer, a magician. Can get you anything for a price. Business has not been good.
Sava (male, any race, 50-70): A refugee; not going to make any trouble, getting by any way he can.
Katia (female, any race, 30-50): Sava’s daughter. She’s seen too much, but hasn’t broken yet.
Billy (male, any race, 25-45): A supervisor where Berlin works; bar pals with Berlin and Horse, but more sensible than either.
Horse (male, white, 25-45): Bar pals with Berlin and Billy. Physically large.
