Breakdown
POOPAY:
(aka Phoebe). 30-35, but passing for 25. A “classy” (but not very high class) hooker, specializing in work as a dominatrix (though she prefers “sex therapist’) She seems a bit tarty, and a bit of a coward at first, but these surface qualities cover unexpected depths of resourcefulness, courage, heroism and, especially, heart. She is a Bombshell in appearance in her ‘working’ outfit and blonde helmet of a wig - but can clean up nicely when circumstances apply. Brilliant comedy required, verbal and physical, as well as wide emotional range. Facility with dialects essential - she employs two: at first, a lower-middle class London (not Cockney), and, when transformed by the circumstances of the play, something more refined (eg Kate Middleton).
