CLAIRE
Female. Caucasian. Mid to late 30s. A teacher who defends her friend and colleague, Alice, both personally and professionally. Also plays VALERIE Alice’s strait-laced, studious, 16 year old, African American daughter. As VALERIE, she is a key member of the high school debate team.
ALICE
Female. African-American. Mid to late 30s. A teacher who is well-educated, but insecure and looks to her friend Claire for advice. Also plays CHARLOTTE - Claire’s Caucasian, teenage daughter. As CHARLOTTE, she identifies strongly with contemporary black culture in speech and demeanor.
MICHAEL AND OTHERS
Male. African American or Caucasian. 40s. MICHAEL, a principal. REPRESENTATIVE, a political representative. REVEREND, a minister.
CIE/CINDY
