BREAKDOWN

Synopsis: The building housing one of the longest-running off-Broadway shows will be converted to condos after the 10,000 performance. Even though the show, embedded in Pop Culture, will continue to be produced around the world from High Schools to legitimate stages, the original production, half-forgotten in NYC, will close.

The writer/producer that hasn't been able to re-create his success and the cast, crew, and fans are all forced to deal with the announcement and the reality of the closing. At various ages and points in their careers, each have a unique dilemma.

For some, it may be a paralyzing blow and career-ender. For others, it may be an opportunity to move forward. All the while, as long as there is a giant walking, talking, singing pickle, there is always a glimmer of hope.

Henry 45-55 - Native New Yorker, playwright, guarded, cynical, and uncomfortable in front of a crowd or an intimate one-on-one conversation.

Diana 45-55 - Professional actor and Henry's closest friend. She is the house-mother of the cast and calming with everybody, but Henry. She is stately, kind-looking, yet a little world-weary.

George 35-45 - Actor - Matinee idol looks. From the Midwest, easy-going, reserved, ready with a kind word.

Ben 35-50 - Actor - George's husband. Midwest born, character actor, goofy, mischievous, likes to incite a little chaos, always ready with a humorous jab.

Sandra 28-36- Leading lady, intense-looking, annoyed target of Ben's jabs. She speaks with a cold sharpness as a defense because she feels the object of ridicule.

Laurie 18-22, ingénue. Southern, wide-eyed, naive, cheery, and chatty.

Julie - 36-45 Laurie's mother and the same personality without the naiveté. She has drive and an unexpected method to her madness.

Jen - 25-60 Professional stage manager. Efficient, sarcastic, pretends not to care.
