With lyrics by Anselmo Carreño and Francisco Ramos de Castro, and the master Pablo Sorozábal music, was premiered with great success in 1934 and has been become one of the classics of the zarzuela. With the stage direction of Emilio Sagi, and the participation of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia.
The master Sorozábal, who was enshrined with the bunch of roses, was able to masterfully portray the Madrid of his time by combining traditional rhythms like the sainete, the Paso doble, the Mazurka or the chotis, with others such as the fox trot or the farruca, approaching the operetta.
Premiered at the Teatro Fuencarral, this work takes place in a square in a Madrid neighborhood where there is a garage, a bar and a flower shop, which gives the work its title.
The Assembly, production of the Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo, has the stage direction of Emilio Sagi, who has a deep relationship with this work since their grandfather Emilio Sagi Barba was entrepreneur of the Fuencarral theatre where he premiered the work and his uncle Emilio Sagi Vela played Joaquin in the premiere. Gerardo Totti (scenography), Pepa Ojanguren (costumes), Eduardo Bravo (lighting) and Goyo Montero (scenography) participate.
