Being conceived as sung theater, the opera genre has had great partnerships with great drama, whose perfect combination makes golden milestones in its development. Among them, one of the highest moments has been achieved by Otello by Giuseppe Verdi, a work of absolute maturity of its composer, directly inspired by Shakespeare's tragedy through masterful libretto by Arrigo Boito. Released in 1887 after a long period of silence and maturation-sixteen years after Aida - Otello exhibits the most significant leap in production stylistic Verdi. Together with a completely new orchestral speech, subtle colors and expressive, this opera immerses the audience in a drama of jealousy and extreme evil actions, which channel the Moor of Venice towards total collapse, making him a murderer and suicide blinded.
