The Technical Director leads the scenic department in the planning and execution of all showsin our season. They work collaboratively with the Scenic Charge Artist, directly supervise four full-time staffmembers, and are responsible for the realization of each production?s aesthetic vision in a safe and efficientway. This position reports to the Director of Production, and works closely with the Lighting, Sound, andProperties supervisors. For more information please visit Center for New Work,Education & DesignTwo River Theater is dedicated to the goal of building an equitable and culturally diverse workenvironment and strongly encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups.Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with design teams to interpret and implement each production?s design Prepare labor and materials estimates for each production based off of design drawings Work with designers to ensure each production is realized within resources allotted by discussingalternate options or ideas in a thoughtful way Manage a budget for each production, as well as a seasonal budget Turn designer drafting into technical plates for the scene shop to build Work with ATD and Scenic Charge in managing workflow from build through strike Create build, load-in and strike calendars for each productionWork as a team with other production department heads in identifying issues and solving any potentialproblems during the design process Responsible for communicating scenic changes to other departments and stage management Staff and manage the supervision of load in and strike of Two River Theater productions and events Maintain technical elements and respond to needs during the run of each production Ensure a safe environment for staff, artists and patrons Identify, schedule and supervise maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of theater and shop equipment Attend technical rehearsals, design meetings, production meetings, and Department Head meetings21 BRIDGE AVENUERED BANK, NJ 07701T 732.345.1400F 732.345.1414TWORIVERTHEATER.ORG Manage Assistant Technical Director, Master Carpenter, Staff Carpenter, and Shop Assistant by providingsupport and feedback to ensure employees are growing and working to potentialQualifications: MFA in Technical Direction or equivalent experience required Understanding of design concepts, and the ability to communicate them effectively Strong technical and mechanical skills, including experience with metal working, MIG welding, rigging,scenic construction techniques, and budget management Familiarity with pneumatics and automation systems, particularly the Creative Conners Spikemark system Experience in supervising crews with varying levels of skill Proficiency in Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Software Ability to work at heights in excess of 60 feet Current driver?s license and experience driving cargo vans and box trucks Work a 40-hour week, with additional flexibility for weekends and evenings as needed and during technicalrehearsalsCompensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
