Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a Properties Supervisor. For nearly fifty years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America?s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by American and international playwrights. We are strongly committed to producing work that is made by, and tells the stories of, a wide range of voices from all walks of life and to making that work accessible to all audiences including those that have historically lacked access to the arts and cultural sector. MTC produces eight plays annually in Broadway?s restored Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street and off Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55th Street. Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) is looking for a Properties Supervisor. They will be responsible for all MTC productions on its three stages (on Broadway at the Friedman Theatre, and Off- Broadway on our two stages at NY City Center) and support for MTC special events. This position is a Local One seasonal weekly contract ? salaried, exempt.Responsibilities:Individuals will work closely with Production Management, Scenic Designers, Directors, and technicians.Individuals will manage the construction, purchasing, procurement, and maintenance of show properties for the Friedman Theatre and NY City Center Stages I and II as well as special events. Responsibilities also include the upkeep and inventory of all stock and storage areas. Duties will include hiring and supervising of full time seasonal properties artisan staff and over hires, building rehearsal and show props, constructing, upholstering, and altering furniture, shopping, and maintenance. Management skills, carpentry skills, general craft skills, and experience with upholstery, soft goods, painting, and Photoshop are highly important. The perfect candidate is a jack-of-all-trades who is able to approach problems from many angles. Applicants should be able to communicate effectively with designers, props personnel, stage managers, run crew, directors, actors, and other production departments. Creativity and willingness to work as a team member are required.Additionally, MTC hosts two special events per year: a Spring Gala and a Fall Benefit. It will fall under the Properties Supervisor?s purview to prep the needs for these events.The Properties Supervisor will also be responsible for maintaining the City Center Props office, Prop Shop, and properties storage facilities.Requirements:? 5+ years Properties Experience? Collaborative Attitude and Strong Communication Skills? Strong Management and Organizational Skills? Knowledge and Understanding of Local One Collective Bargaining Agreements? Proficient Computer Skills in Microsoft Office, etc? Ability to Work in a Detailed and Organized Manner, Resourceful and Flexible?
