The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and 90.9 WGUC announce an expansion of their concert broadcast partnership dubbed "CSO In Concert."

The radio station has long recorded the CSO's live concerts for broadcast on WGUC Sunday evenings January-May. With this expanded collaboration, the concerts will continue to air on the radio on Sundays, while also being available for free streaming on the CSO's website for the week following the original air date, allowing even more fans near and far to experience the Orchestra's performances.

"Having the concert broadcasts available online allows even more fans both near and far to experience the CSO's performances," said Chris Pinelo, the CSO's Vice President of Communications. "This Orchestra has long served as Cincinnati's ambassador to the world, and we're delighted that these exceptional live recordings from WGUC will reach music lovers around the world thanks to this new digital platform."

"Our regular Sunday night broadcast of CSO concerts has a long tradition and is one of our most valued community services. So we are especially excited to offer additional listening opportunities for CSO fans near and far throughout the week online," said Chris Phelps, Vice President for Content at Cincinnati Public Radio. "These are superb recordings of incredible performances, so we want as many people to experience them as possible."

WGUC will continue to record and air all of the CSO's subscription season performances, as well as select special and gala concerts. The 2016-17 season will begin airing Sunday, January 8, 2017, with one concert featured each week through the end of May. Listeners can tune in to 90.9 WGUC at 8 p.m. on Sunday evenings or visit inconcert.cincinnatisymphony.org for streaming throughout the week.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO), which also performs as the Cincinnati Pops, is one of America's finest and most versatile ensembles. With a determination for greatness and a rich tradition that dates back over 120 years, the internationally acclaimed CSO attracts the best musicians, artists and conductors from around the world to Cincinnati. With new commissions and groundbreaking initiatives like LUMENOCITY, One City, One Symphony, and the MusicNOW Festival collaboration, the Orchestra is committed to being a place of experimentation.

As Cincinnati's ambassador, the Orchestra has toured extensively, sold millions of recordings, and reaches millions more annually through radio and television broadcasts. As Cincinnati's own, the Orchestra's impact extends far beyond concerts at Music Hall to the schools, places of worship, and neighborhood centers of a vastly diverse community. The Orchestra also elevates Cincinnati's vibrant cultural scene by serving as the official orchestra for the Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati May Festival, Cincinnati Opera and Cincinnati World Piano Competition.

90.9 WGUC was founded in 1960 by a group of citizens who wanted a radio station devoted to cultural and public affairs programming. Today, the station remains true to its founders, broadcasting classical music 24 hours a day. WGUC was one of the first stations in the nation to meet the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's qualification standards; a charter member of National Public Radio; and a founder of American Public Radio (now Public Radio International). WGUC also is the only public radio station with an ongoing program to commission new music. The station's live signal can be heard around the world at wguc.org. 90.9 also works to bring classical music to a new generation of listeners through the educational outreach program Classics for Kids.
