Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, Cabaret explores the ominous political climate of pre-WWII Germany and its impact on various individuals. The story is overseen by the Emcee of the decadent Kit Kat Club, and centers around the themes of free expression, fascism, prejudice, and identity still so relevant in our modern era.
