ABC's The View has found itself in the media limelight in the last few weeks, though not necessarily in a positive way. As the co-host shake-up continues to unfold, today's The Daily Beast reports that when the show returns for its 18th season, longtime executive producer Bill Geddie will no longer be at his post. "He won't be back," a source familiar with the show told The Daily Beast.

According to a friend of Geddie's, the producer had planned to continue with the show he helped to create for at least another two years. "He didn't want to retire," his friend said. "He was really angry."

Geddie, through a network spokeswoman, has declined to comment and did not respond to an email. The View will wrap up Season 17 on August 8th. No replacement for Geddie has been announced.

The daytime talker was launched by Walters in 1997, despite strong objections from then ABC News President Roone Arledge. It became an immediate ratings hit and has seen a co-hosts such as Rosie O'Donnell, Joy Behar and Meredith Vieira come and go throughout the years. However, since Walters announced her retirement from the show, The View has been slowly losing steam. A source at ABC revealed, "The numbers needed a boost."
