According to Variety, The CW has renewed both The Carrie Diaries and Nikita for the 2013-2014 season,.

Speculation that pair would be nixed arose after the network picked up four of its other shows, including Arrow and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, earlier this year.

Freshman SEX AND THE CITY prequel, starring Anna Sophia Robb as the iconic Carrie Bradshaw, as floundered a bit in the ratings, drawing in approxiatemly 1.5 million viewers each week, plus DVR playback. NIKITA, starring Maggie Q, draws in approximately the same numbers each Friday, though will not receive a full-season pick-up.

However, Nikita fans should be prepared: the upcoming season will most likely be its last.

Showrunner Craig Silverstein posted today: "@sesfonstein #Nikita will return but not for a full season. We can promise an incredible finish though!"

Added to the network's 2013-2014 slate are TOMORROW PEOPLE, THE 100, REIGN, and STAR-CROSSED.
