Bill Keller, formerly editor-in-chief of The New York Times is now editor of The Marshall Project, a new nonprofit journalism initiative created to cover the U.S. criminal justice system. Keller joins guest host Jack Ford for a conversation about The Marshall Project and we see an excerpt from the PBS series POV documentary 15 to Life: Kenneth's Story, about juvenile justice and changes to sentencing laws.

In an interview with Pi Roman, historian, journalist and author Terry Golway examines the legacy of New York's political organization Tammany Hall, the subject of his book Machine Made: Tammany Hall and the Creation of Modern American Politics.

In 2008, photographer Christopher Payne got permission from the New York City Parks Department to make repeated trips to North Brother Island, which closed to visitors in 1963. Payne's book of photographs, North Brother Island: The Last Unknown Place in New York City documents the island's return to nature.
