With the departure of Joy Behar last summer, and the impending retirement of Barbara Walters, it's no secret that ABC's The View is on the lookout for a new face or two to join the panel. And co-host Sherri Shepherd says that if she has anything to say about it, a man or a Latina should get the nod.

"I think it would bring a very, very different perspective," Shepherd tells ABC News Radio of having a man in one of those chairs. "I always love having men on the show because we have our point of view as women, but it's always different when a man comes on. Because they go, 'Yeah, well, no, no, no. Y'all think y'all know everything and it's just as simple as this.' So I would love for that chair to be filled by a man."

And it appears The View has been testing out having some testosterone on set. During season 17 of the daytime talk show, male guest co-hosts have included Who Wants to Be a Millionaire's Cedric The Entertainer, former NFL player Donald Driver, Everybody Loves Raymond's Brad Garrett, Morning Joe's Joe Scarborough and Dr. Drew on Call's Dr. Drew Pinsky.

Shepherd would also love to see a Latina fill a slot. "Because I think that, again, that's a different voice that has not been heard and we would love to hear that voice. So I think there's two chairs open and they would both fit it really, really well. Where's Rosie Perez?" she asks with a laugh.
