Silva Screen Records has released the Hatfields & McCoys Original Soundtrack, composed by John Debney (Iron Man 2, Predators) and Tony Morales (Supah Ninjas, orchestrator/arranger The Expendables).

The mini-series set basic cable viewing records when it aired May 28-30 in the U.S.  Its finale, which aired on Wednesday, May 30th on The History Channel, was watched by 14.3 million viewers, according to the Nielson Co., making it the number 1 non-sports or non-news program to air on ad-supported cable.

Composed by Academy Award nominated/Emmy award winning composer, John Debney and Tony Morales, the evocative and haunting score weaves an updated classic western sound with rich melodies and Appalachian instruments. Simultaneously modern and classic, the original soundtrack released digitally by Silva Screen Records and already climbing the charts, perfectly complements the gritty Civil War images.  The soundtrack also features vocals by Lisbeth Scott and a track from Modern West (featuring Kevin Costner).

"When first approached about writing the score for this epic mini-series, I was intrigued," said Debney, who previously worked with Hatfields & McCoys star Kevin Costner on Swing Vote and Dreamhouse.  "After seeing the first few scenes cut together, my curiosity was replaced by sheer excitement at the prospect of being involved with this wonderful project."

"While the prospect of writing the score for Hatfields & McCoys intrigued us from the beginning, once we actually saw a few scenes we knew this was a project we wanted to be a part oF. Early creative discussions hinged on creating a memorable score that honored the time and region while maintaining a contemporary sound," describEd Morales.

"Tony and I sought to create a score that is modern yet grounded in rich melodies," Debney continued. "We were aided by an incredible array of talent led by the incomparable Lisbeth Scott, who also wrote the evocative lyrics.  Our goal was to create a classic Western score that is current and relevant."

The Hatfields & McCoys -- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Silva Screen Records is available digitally now.
