According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shantel VanSanten (ONE TREE HILL) has landed the lead role in The CW's upcoming sci-fi pilot THE MESSENGERS, hailing from TEEN WOLF's Eoghan O'Donnell. VanSanten joins the previously announced Sofia Black-D'Elia, Joel Courtney, Son of God's Diogo Morgado and Jon Fletcher.

The project "centers on a mysterious object that crashes down to Earth and a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from the energy pulse. They then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse.

VanSanten will play "Vera, a NASA scientist who works at a remote New Mexico observatory who investigates a strange impact site."

THR has also confirmed that the part is first position against Fox's upcoming cop series GANG RELATED, which premieres this May.

VanSanten has also appeared on the network's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, CSI: NY, and THE GLADES.
