Season Premiere of NBC's PARENTHOOD Up 8% in Ratings

"Parenthood" equaled its highest 18-49 rating since Oct. 3, 2013 and "Biggest Loser" retained 100% of its prior week's rating.

"The Biggest Loser" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) matched the previous week's 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 and retained 92% of last week's result in total viewers (4.467 million vs.4.618 million), despite facing last night's season premieres of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" and Fox's "Bones." From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Loser" grew by +15% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5 from a 1.3), +25% in adults 18-34 (1.0 vs. 0.8) and +33% in women 18-34 (1.2 vs. 0.9).

The sixth season premiere of "Parenthood" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) equaled the show's highest adult 18-49 rating since Oct. 3, 2013 (1.5 during week two of last season). In total viewers, it's the show's best since March 27 (4.398 million).

"Parenthood" improved by 8% on the show's April 17 season finale in 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.3) and was up +7% in total viewers (4.262 million vs. 3.991 million). "Parenthood" retained 88% of its year-ago premiere in 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.6 on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013) and 84% in total viewers (4.262 million vs. 5.056 million), despite much tougher competition this year from the premiere of ABC's "How to Get Away With Murder" and CBS's NFL football.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Thursday Night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.5/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.1/7 delayed by an NFL overrun; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 3.0/8.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.8/5 delayed by an NFL overrun; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.2/6.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET , ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.7/6 in metered-market households and a 0.7/5 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) trailed CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/6 delayed by an NFL overrun). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) trailed "Late Late Show" (0.6/5 delayed by an NFL overrun).

At 1:35 a.m. ET , "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
