SOPRANOS Actor Frank Pellegrino Dies at 72

Variety reports that Frank Pellegrino, perhaps best known as FBI chief Frank Cubitoso on HBO's THE SOPRANOS, has passed away following a batttle with lung cancer. He was 72.

In 1990, the actor portrayed gangster Johnny Dio in GOODFELLAS. His character on "The Sopranos" appeared throughout eleven episodes of the show. Other guest appearances included TV's "Law & Order." His other credits include "Cop Land," "Mickey Blue Eyes," "Manhattan Murder Mystery" and, most recently, a guest spot on Bravo's "Odd Mom Out."

Pellegrino was also co-owned the restaurant Rao's in East Harlem, New York City. The establishment was frequently visited by such celebrities as Jay Z and Martin Scorsese, and has appeared in many films including "The Wolf of Wall Street" Founded in 1896, the Italian eatery also has locations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
